ABOUT MURPHY’S TREE PRUNING

Tree pruning is something that should be undertaken for every tree to maintain its health, stability and ensure its longevity.

Murphy’s performs all aspects of pruning whether it’s removing dead branches, unsafe, hazardous branches, crown lifting or reduction, or corrective and formative pruning.

Corrective and Formative Pruning

Corrective and formative pruning usually go hand in hand. While formative pruning is usually undertaken on young trees to encourage the development of a strong structure, this is commonly not taking place.

Therefore, mature trees are requiring a corrective and formative prune for future growth.

Corrective pruning is carried out on trees to reform their health and natural shape and structure. This type of pruning can include removing diseased branches, thinning of the crown to increase airflow and reduce the possibility of pests, and removal of crossing or rubbing branches.

Dead wooding and Hazard Reductions

This type of pruning is for safety. We will remove any dead branches, any branches that are interfering with lines of sight, branches that may grow into/around power lines or service lines, or storm or pest damaged branches that could have the potential to fall and cause damage.

We place importance on the removal of hazardous trees & branches to avoid long-term problems. Some hazardous trees can pose a danger to lives and property. For these reasons it is good to consult with your arborist regarding the removal of potentially hazard. Our expert arborists can help you determine if you have a hazardous tree and will provide a solution to handle any risks or danger that may be involved.

A hazardous tree is a tree that is potentially hazardous may experience the following symptoms: movement in the root, movement in the structure, cracking around the base of the tree, soil built up around the base of the tree, excessive sap, infestation, fungus, fungus at base of the tree, bracket fungus, or dead wood. These are visible symptoms but may go unnoticed by the average person. If you suspect there could be something wrong with a tree or multiple trees on your property, book one of our expert arborists for a consultation today.

Palm Trimming

While the look of a palm in a backyard makes us feel like we’re sipping on cocktails at the beach, their seed pods and dead fronds that like to hang around can suppress their attractiveness and make a mess. We recommend an annual prune of palms to remove the dead and dying fronds and their large seed pods. Pruning of palms is one that requires the skill of an arborist so as to not affect the health of the palm. Palms actually have no cambium layer (bark) so they are quite at risk to pests entering when pruned incorrectly.
